I love my community — American Muslims — with all my heart. Since high school, when I began to consciously explore the beliefs, history, traditions, and possibilities inherent in my religion, I have made other aspects of my identity (South Asian, Pakistani, Punjabi, etc.) subservient to being a Muslim who is a citizen of America.
